With intense competition and rising manufacture cost, profit for starch production has shrunk largely recently. And the industry is facing overcapacity. Under this circumstance, many small producers without enough competitiveness have be phased out from the market, while large producers survived through expanding product varieties, improving product quality, cooperating with upstream and downstream companies, etc.
The industrial concentration of starch industry in China is intensifying, which can be reflected by the tendency of producers' concentration in regions with abundant supply of raw materials and frequent M&A.
