In order to compare the competitiveness of Chinese product, benchmarking, a scientific method and a reasonable and practical approach to the production cost & cost structure in major manufacturers, has been conducted. The aim of this report is to provide basic understanding to the Chinese manufacturers, production, export, consumption, raw materials, technology, cost structure, etc. so that to understand the competitiveness of Chinese paracetamol industry. The full report is consisted of the following parts: - Chapter one: Production & market information. The commercial information of paracetamol industry is discussed in this part. - Chapter two: Profile each manufacturers of paracetamol and PAP, as well as the manufacturers list for paracetamol preparation in 2002 and 2003. - Chapter three: Benchmarking information. The technological information of paracetamol industry is discussed in this part. In the update report we paid special attention to the PAP production technology and there is large space discussing the competitiveness of Chinese production of PAP and its relationship with paracetamol. Consecutive market monitoring on the situation of Chinese manufacturers has been conducted from 1997 to 2004, during when extensive telephone interview have been carried out toward all of them. Site visit to two major producers were also conducted in 2000 and the site visit reports have been listed as appendix for reference.
