The report is a preliminary study on Glucose industry in China. The production, producers, demand & consumption, end-use segments and import & export are introduced plus a brief summary of corn starch industry and glucose history development. Especially, more than 40 producers, breakdown by active, idled, stopped, potential, are profiled from the aspects of background information, product information, capacity, export situation, etc. We have found that: Glucose market is large and most developed in China. The quality of Chinese glucose has been improved to meet the international standard.
It is a trend that some large manufacturers, including the joint ventures in China, become increasingly dominating the Chinese production.
More and more minor producers will stop production in the future. For those small-scale factories, the production cost is higher than that of large scale producers. In order to reduce cost and improve competitiveness, domestic producers keep on expanding their production capacity but not paying enough attention to the domestic demand.
In China, oral grade glucose production is not a profitable business and the survival of the future players depends on the production scale and the fame around the country.
It seems that injection grade glucose will be promising in the future due to its relatively high consumption capability in China, especially for anhydrous glucose.
As to industrial grade powder glucose, its demand is not large and it has little added value. It is falling into disuse.
In respect to application, China is a large potential market to tap, especially in the field of candy, beverage, pharmaceutical and downstream products.
