In 2013, China's fungicide industry continued to enjoy a fast growth, with the output volume and value up 33.55% and 20.98% YoY respectively. During 2013, the total value of fungicide import and export reached USD 1,306.58 million, increasing by 9.68% from 2012. Both the import and export volume and value of fungicides witnessed growth in 2013.
As for new fungicide registration, the number of new fungicide formulations increased by 25.11%, while that of new fungicide technical decreased slightly. Among them, traditional fungicides are still in the dominant position in registrations. Azoxystrobin was the major one which enjoyed many registrations in 2013, and it is also one of the most promising fungicides in China in the future. Besides, lots of new active fungicides and their formulations emerged.
In China, Jiangsu Huifeng, Jiangsu Lanfeng, Qianjiang Biochemical and Zibo Wanchang are some of the largest listed fungicides or fungicide intermediates enterprise in China. In 2013, all of them enjoyed a good performance in their fungicides business. Some companies will continue to expand their fungicide business for good market prospects.
The R&D investment of Chinese pesticide enterprises is still far lower than that of international giants. Though there was no big improvement on R&D on the whole in 2013, some progress was still made, such as the synthesis technology for silthiopham.
