O,O-Dimethyl phosphoramidothioate, (DMPAT), it is a main raw material of organophosphorus pesticide. DMPAT is mainly used for making methamidophos, acephate, monocrotophos, etc. However, due to methamidophos's high toxicity and serious environmental pollution, it had been banned to be produced and used in more and more countries, which affected production and sales of DMPAT, some producers have stopped the production of DMPAT from 2010. In recent years, the output of DMPAT hasn't sharply increased in China, but China is still the largest producer and exporter of DMPAT at present. There are about seven main producers of DMPAT in China. The largest one is Hubei Sanonda Co., Ltd. (Hubei Sanonda), with capacity of 50,000t/a, accounting for 45.05% of the total in China.
DMPAT's price hit the record high to in Oct. 2008 to 4,390USD/t, however, the ex-works price of DMPAT hovers between USD2,504/t and USD2,739/t in recent two years, as the strict control policies of highly toxic organophosphorus pesticide.
