In May, glyphosate Technical Concentrate (TC) prices rebounded, manufacturers' profits were restored, the operating rate increased, and the supply volume grew. On the demand side, the downstream market improved, leading to increased demand.

Company dynamic: Bayer has been embroiled in severe legal and financial issues due to the glyphosate cancer scandal, which has led the company to have its subsidiary Monsanto file for bankruptcy to avoid liability claims and to prepare for the feasibility assessment of the bankruptcy path; the Guizhou Wengfu Jiangshan New Materials and Electronic Chemicals project is accelerating, with the plan to build in three phases. Currently, the first phase of the project has entered a critical stage, the yellow phosphorus supporting sintering ore project is expected to achieve mechanical completion by the end of May, the chlor-alkali project is expected to be completed by the end of August, and the entire first phase of the project is expected to officially start production on October 10th.

Policy: The Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China has organized the formulation and release of the mandatory national standard "General Specification for the Safety Production Standardization of Hazardous Chemicals Enterprises" (GB45673-2025), which will be implemented from November 1, 2025; the State Council's executive meeting deliberated and approved the "Action Plan for Green and Low Carbon Development of the Manufacturing Industry (2025-2027)", aiming to promote the green transformation of the manufacturing industry. For the glyphosate industry, this will encourage the adoption of more environmentally friendly production processes, improve resource efficiency, reduce pollutant emissions, and leverage policy support to achieve high-quality development, enhancing market competitiveness.

Ongoing project: the latest developments include the completion of the environmental protection acceptance announcement for the Zhumadian Changsheng annual production of 1,920 tons of glyphosate formulation project; Jixing Chemical's 53,000 tons/year yellow phosphorus project is expected to start trial production in June, etc.
