Welcome to March Issue of Sorbitol China News (Vol.1 Issue 3 2018)
The sorbitol industry has huge potential for growth. As China’s sugar-free food business has been developing rapidly these years, the demand for sugar alcohols (ideal substitutes for sucrose) like sorbitol and xylitol will grow considerably in the future. Now, an increasing number of companies are constructing sorbitol projects or planning to do so.
- As of 6 March, Shandong Tianli’s 1,000 t/a isosorbide project was still under construction, though it was previously said to be completed in Jan. 2018.
- On 6 March, NHU approved its subsidiary’s use of self-raised funds to build bio-fermentation projects including a 60,000 t/a sorbitol project.
- On 21 March, Northeast Pharmaceutical announced the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary for the manufacture of sorbitol.
China’s export volume and price of sorbitol declined in Jan. 2018 and will rise after March.
