On 30 March, 2018, the CABCA Presidents Working Conference 2018 was held in Yichang City, Hubei Province. Zhang Jiukui, deputy president & secretary general of the CABCA, introduced the development of China’s bakery & confectionery industry in 2017. The global bakery industry is rapidly developing, and its development will also promote that of the sweeteners industry.
The domestic sweeteners production capacity has further increased in China. Xilin Gol League Biohymn Sugar’s 6,000 t/d beet processing project is progressing smoothly in China; COFCO Biochemical has a plan to invest in a 480 t/d HFCS project within this year; Shandong Tianli is to develop a 210,000 t/a sugar alcohol project.
Global Sweeteners realised YoY increases in revenue and net profit in 2017, due to the improved operation efficiency in the Jinzhou production base and the production resumption in the Xinglongshan base. COFCO Sugar terminated an entrusted management agreement with Xiangxing Sugar in late March so as to focus more on sugar business. Shandong Kaison released its annual report for 2017, and its revenue was up by nearly fifty percent YoY. This was owing to its larger sodium gluconate sales.
