Policy

On 6 May, 2025, China, in conjunction with multiple departments, released the Comprehensive Management Plan for the Misuse of Food Additives. The plan introduces a holistic regulatory strategy aimed at addressing the misuse of food additives from the root cause.

Company dynamics

On 5 May, 2025, COFCO Sugar's financial report for the year 2024 showed that the company's revenue was USD4.51 billion ( RMB32.50 billion), a YoY decrease of 1.86%; net profit was USD237.89 million (RMB1.71 billion), a YoY decrease of 17.36%.

On 25 April, 2025, Bolingbao's 2024 annual report showed that its total revenue decreased 4.84% YoY, while the net profit increased by 105.97% YoY.

On 29 April, 2025, Sanyuan Biology reported to have achieved a YOY increase of 42.72% in total revenue; a YOY increase of 87.47% in net profit attributable to the parent company; and a YOY increase of 87.04% in non-IFRS net profit in 2024.

Import and Export

In Jan. to April, 2025, China's xylitol exports reached 26,108 tonnes, a YoY increase of 12.47%, export value up by 6.32% YoY.

Price update

In May, Starch sugar products remain stable with a slight decline, liquid sugar products are mainly stable, and it is expected that starch sugar product prices will be stable with some declines in June.
