Glyphosate China Monthly Report(Glyphosate China Monthly Report 1804)

April witnessed slack transactions in the glyphosate TC market, especially overseas markets entering the slack season. When downstream demand was weak, raw material prices were rising. Glyphosate TC producer were bearing mounting pressure.

Domestic companies’ dynamics

• Zhejiang Wynca’s glyphosate dimethylamine salt 38% AS and glufosinate-ammonium·glyphosate ammonium 39% may get registered in China got registered in China this month;
• Sichuan Xianyida, to satisfy market demands and development needs, planned to construct several glyphosate formulation production lines to improve its competitiveness;
• Anhui Huaxing established its green and intelligent formulations processing centre with 100,000 t/a glyphosate AS and 10,000 t/a glyphosate GR;
• Inner Mongolia Tenglong invited bids for cable suppliers of its 50,000 t/a glyphosate project.

Overseas

• Germany was moving ahead to restrict glyphosate;
• Kenya vigorously promotes GM cotton;
• Argentina saw rising agrochemicals consumption in 2017, near 70% of which came from imports.

The China-US trade war is undoubtedly the hottest issue this month. It will benefit agrochemical enterprises’ domestic business, such as Zhejiang Wynca and Hubei Sanonda. However, for glyphosate exports, as the US is the largest importer from China, China may suffer from trade barrier in its glyphosate business.
