to Increase the Export of Natural Pigment

| Yunnan Ruibao
Natural Pigment Co., Ltd. cooperated with Tianjin Nankai University
to develop the downstream products of natural colors. They solved
the odor problem during the production. Now they become the largest
manufacturer of radish red and red cabbage pigment, totally 7-8 pigment
species. In year 2000 the sales turnover in this company is RMB3 million.
90% of the total production is exported to Japan, Korea, Europe and
USA. |

| Yibin to Form
the Largest Camphor Tree Plantation Base (Last

| Camphor tree
is a source of natural flavors. The oil of camphor tree is used to
extract sassafras oil. By October 2001, the production of sassafras
oil in Yibin, Sichuan, is 1,200MT, earning over USD4.5 million for
local government. Yibin city plans to allocate around 3,300 hectares
for the plantation of camphor tree in the future two years. |

total investment for this company is RMB44.6 million. The share holders
are: Hong Kong New World Medicine Investment Co., Ltd. (sharing 70%) and
Yunnan Medicine Group (sharing 30%). It is reported that this is the fourth
investment project of Hong Kong New World Group. |

to extract cynanchum bunaei in Jiangsu Binhai Jinfang Company has passed
appraisal from concerning authority recently. It is reported that this company
will invest RMB10 million to develop cynanchum bunaei extract. Cynanchum
bunaei is a native product in China. 95% of the total production of cynanchum
bunaei comes from Jiangsu Province Haibin County. At present the annual
plantation area of cynanchum bunaei in this county is 13,300 hectares and
the annual production is 200,000MT. . |

Decides to Build Seabuckthorn Industrial Zone (Last

| Hebei Shenxing
Group plans to build seabuckthorn zone engaging the research and development
of this plant. According to the plan, this zone is consisting of two parts:
science & technology zone and industrial zone. The construction of latter
one will comply with the GMP standard. In the future this zone will produce
seabuckthorn nutritional food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetics. Hebei
Shenxing Group began the seabuckthorn business in 1999. Now they have a
66,000 hectare plantation base of seabuckthorn in Liaoning Province, and
a R & D center in Hebei province. The products in this group include seabuckthorn
juice, seabuckthorn oil, seabuckthorn flavones, etc. |

Group to Develop Soybean Downstream Products (Last

Jiusan Oil & Fat Group Hiukang Food Co. Ltd. starts to build a factory to
produce soybean downstream products include natural vitamin E, soybean isoflavone,
soybean isolated protein, etc. It is expected that the annual production
value of this project will be RMB800 million, and it will process nearly
one third of the total soybean produced in Heilongjiang Province. |

the Ninth-Five-year, Yunnan Fuyuan County fasten the development of ginkgo
resource. They have planted total 7,000 hectares of ginkgo tree. At present
the annual production of ginkgo nut is 20MT and the ginkgo leaf is 200MT.
In addition they also set up a extract factory to produce ginkgo nutritional
products like wine, tea, juice, etc. It is reported that their product has
been exported to Southeast Asia. |

Soybean Protein Co., Ltd. established recently. This company will conduct
research and production of soybean downstream products. It is reported that
the technology and key equipment will be introduced from USA. The total
investment for this project is RMB103 million. The production period is
scheduled to be 18 months. After the construction this company can process
soybean 30,000MT/year, producing soybean protein 3,000MT/year, tissue protein
4,200MT/year, soybean oil 4,800MT/year and soybean meal 2,800MT/year. The
annual sales turnover will be RMB89 million. |

| Resveratrol
Extraction Technology Passes Appraisal (Last Update:

| The technology
to extract resveratrol from giant knotweed rhizome has passed appraisal
from Shaanxi Province. This technology was developed by Shaanxi Light Industry
Research & Design Institute who began the research in 1999. Resveratrol
is the killer of COX-2 which leads to tumor. The antioxidant property of
resveratrol is higher than that of vitamin E. At present Shaanxi Light Industry
Research & Design Institute can produce 400kg/year resveratrol 99%. The
product has been exported to USA, France, Korea, etc. |
