Establishes Fragrance Production Base in Shanghai (Last update: 06/10/2001)

| Givaudan
has established production and R & D Center in Shanghai. This is the fourth
R & D centers of Givaudan in the world. It is a joint venture with Shanghai
Sunve Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. This center will engage in the activities
of R & D and production of flavor & fragrance. It is reported that the designed
capacity of flavors & fragrance (mainly fragrance) in this joint venture

| A 13,000MT/year
production base of PP-R pipe & pipe fittings has been established in Shandong
Zhaoyuan. This project was invested by Shandong Jin Jin Chao Science & Technology
Co. Ltd. who introduced 8 production lines from German. The total investment
for this production base is RMB240 million. At present there are over 100
production lines in China and the total production capacity is over 70,000MT/year.

BOPP Production Line in Jiangyin Finished (Last update: 06/10/2001) |
| Jiangsu
Jiangyin Shenda Group Shenpeng Packing Material Factory finished the construction
of 25,000MT/year BOPP production line. The production technology comes from
Mitsubishi. It can produce 8.3 meter BOPP film (in width). The output rate
is 320 meters per minute. All the raw materials for the production are from
overseas. It is reported that Shenda Group will introduce more production
lines to produce BOPP, CPP, and BOPA, after when it will become the largest

| Jiangsu
to Build Biologically-Active-Material Production Base

| Jiangsu
Biologically-Active-Material Engineering & Technology Center was set up
in Wuxi by Jiangnan University, Jiangsu Microorganism Research Institute
and Taihu Water Group. This center was approved by central government in
1999. The investment in the first phase is RMB11.50 million. The center
will focus on technology development & industrialization of biologically-active-material,
especially fermentation products and deep processing of natural products.
This center plans to build two pilot production lines. One production line
is for biological fermentation engineering and another production line is
for extraction, separation and purification of natural products. There are
four research labs in the center: fermentation engineering, gene engineering,
biological pharmaceutical and natural product research lab. (Source: China

| The trial
production of SMA in Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Company Chemical Factory
succeeded. The designed capacity of SMA is 1,000MT/year. This product was
developed by Sinopec Shanghai Research Institute and Zhejiang University.

Acetyl Chemical Co. Ltd. starts the construction of 80,000MT/year acetate
project. The new production line will use technology from BP to produce
ethyl acetate and butyl acetate. After the construction, the project will
be the largest one in China. This project will be finished in June 2002.

Cooperates with Tianjin Petrochemical To Produce Optical

and Tianjin Petrochemical Corp has signed an agreement to produce optical
brightening polyester fiber, which is used as brightening agent (function
alike Eastobrite OB-1) for the production of polyester. The designed capacity
is 5,000MT/year. This product will substitute the traditional brightening

the utility technology of water source and to relieve the water shortness,
State Planning Committee issued a notification, To Organize Special
Foundation for the Development of Membrane Technology. The aim of
the foundation is to break through production technology of some key
products, to improve the competition ability of membrane industry
in China. The target of the foundation is to popularize the water
treatment technology in large scale and to build some world standard
production bases in China. The focus of the foundation lies in sea
