Taxation Management on Import Feed Additives (Last update: Sept 2000)
State Customs Administration published the Regulation on Feed and Feed Additives recently. This regulation has been approved by State Council and will be executed in the near future. This regulation emphasizes on the management of import feed and import feed additives. The details include. 1) From August 1st, 2000, all the importer of feed and feed additives must get Registration License from Ministry of Agriculture. The customs can not pass over the goods before seeing the copy of this license. 2) Some regulation on the classification and the execution of tax rate. For the import of methionine (HS 29304000), lysine (HS29224110), lysine and its ester (HS 29224190), threonine (HS 29224910), the importer must provide the above mentioned copy of license, as well as Property License for Import Feed Additves issued by the feed test center that is appointed by Ministry of Agriculture. If these two licenses are ready, the customs will levy on the above amino acids in terms of "made-up" feed additives. If the importer can not provide these two licenses, the customs will levy on the above amino acid in terms of the original HS code assigned. The levy on the other feed additives that are allowed to import but do not belong to the above items follows the assigned HS code. 3) This action is to execute from August 1st, 2000. China will Release the Sugar Stock Once More in the Future (Last update: August 2000)
The first phase of sugar release (400,000Mt) was finished in 25th August. The price of sugar stops going up and stays at RMB3,900/Mt. Selenium-enriched Yeast Line in GD Jiangmen (Last update: August 2000)
The production line of selenium-enriched yeast with capacity of 2,000Mt/year was set up in Guangdong Jiangmen Biological Development Center. The total investment for this project is RMB19 millions. At present the yeast production in this company is over 10,000Mt/year. Seeing that a lot of Chinese people are lack of the intake of selenium, GD Jiangmeng Biological Development Center uses modern technology to convert the inorganic selenium into organic-combining product which is easy to digest by human beings. Xylose in Tangshan (Last update: July 2000)
Tangshan Akedibu Xylose Co. Ltd. was set up in April 2000. This is an joint venture of Longxiang company and a Japanese company. Bayer Invested in Chengdu (Last update: July 2000)
Bayer invested USD9.4 million in Chengdu to build the production line of animal nutrient. The joint venture is Bayer Sichuan Animal Nutrient Company. GMO Good Entering Guangzhou (Last update: July 2000)
The Chinese consumers are eating GMO foods! News from CCIB Guangzhou shows that among the 14 kinds of import food tested, three of them are GMO food from America. They are samp, pop corn and soybean. According to the CCIB, samp contains 35S and cry, pop corn contains 35S and npt II; while soybean contains 35S, NOS and EPSPS. Alpha-L-aspartic-L-phenylalanine Methyl Pilot Production (Last update: July 2000)
CAS Chengdu Organic Research Institute passed the pilot production of alpha-L-aspartic-L-phenylalanine methyl, a sweetener with sweetness of 200 times that of sugar. The raw materials for the synthesis of alpha-L-aspartic-L-phenylalanine methyl include 88% formic acid, aspartic acid and aldehyde. The scale of the pilot production is 200Mt/year.
 
New Technique for Sodium Benzoate Production (Last update: July 2000)
Wuhan Organic Industrial Company succeeded in the new production technology for sodium benzoate. At present, the production capacity of sodium benzoate in Wuhan Organic Industrial Company reaches to 30,000Mt/year. Natural Gardenin Extraction Technology Succeeded (Last update: March 2000)
A new technology for natural gardenin extraction was developed in Jiangxi Jingdezhen. Different from the extraction technology in the oversea countries, this technology results in the gardenin free of synthetic chemical substance. It is reported that this technology was awarded by State Economic & Planning Committee and RMB1.5 millions was invested in order to begin the commercial production of gardenin in Jiangxi Province. 15 Import Feed Free of VAT (Last update: Jan 2000)
