Description

This report looks at polyacrolamide industry in China from the aspects of historical and current production, product categories, problems in the production faced by Chinese polyacrolamide producers, raw materials supply, production technology and research progress, import and export, pricing, and consumption. What's to be noted is that an exhausting effort has been made to dig into each end use sector of polyacrolamide in order to find not only the current consumption situation, but also the characteristics of each sector, e.g. which is declining and which is growing extremely fast. By taking into consideration of all the aspects mentioned above and the driven forces and barriers for polyacrolamide industry, a forecast on the future of polyacrolamide industry in China is made.

Executive Summary

(Note: The following summary is based on the situation in 2007 and maybe different to what it is nowadays. Please be noted.)

• Production of PAM

Most Chinese PAM manufacturers are also AM producers.

• AM

There ar e xx AM manufacturers in China, xx of them also produce PA M.

The actual output of AM in 2006 was xxx tons, the operation rate in 2006 increased from 50% in 2001 to 70% in 2006. About 95% of acrylamide is used to produce PAM and AM derivatives. In China the production capacity of AM has reached xxxxt/a (on 98% base). The production and demand of PAM increases fast in recent years, the supply of AM also can meet the demand of PAM.

Now, the biochemicals method is the major production technology of AM. ....

• PAM

By Aug. 2007, there are xxx manufacturers producing PAM in China. Most of new PAM producers have small-scale production capacity;

In 2006, the total output of PAM was xxxx tonnes, which only account for 48.69% of the total capacity in China. The operation rate in large-scale PAM producers is higher than that. For example, ....

The low operation rate reflects the current unstable PAM production in China, for example,.....

Of Chinese PAM, xxx% is anionic type. Nonionic PAM, cationic PAM and amphoteric PAM accounts for xxx%, xxx% and xxx%, respectively.

Of Chinese PAM, xxx% is in powder form. Solution form and emulsion form totally account for less than xxx%.

• Consumption of PAM

In 2006, the consumption volume of PAM was xxxx tonnes, and the average growth rate wasxxx% from 2002 to 2006. The fast growth is attributed to the increasing demand in oil recovery, wastewater treatment and papermaking industry. The growth of PAM demand from wastewater and papermaking has been fast, which was 14.43% and 15.47% from 2002 to 2006 respectively.

Of Chinese PAM, xxx% is used in petroleum industry, mainly EOR process. Water treatment industry and papermaking industry consumes xxx% and xxx%, respectively.
