Description:
Chinese pentaerythritol industry had already been hot in last few years. Product structure change in 2003, antidumping fairs in 2005 and environmental concerns in 2006 all interested the industry insiders. After experiencing these events, it is definitely worth our attention for the development of pentaerythritol industry in past and future.
The first subject studied in this report was the production status. Do the leaders of pentaerythritol industry tend to expand? Do they further adjust the product structure? Are there any new comers? All these information were covered in this report as well as the manufacturers geographical distributions, SWOT analysis of top manufacturers etc.
Sales and marketing, including import and export are on the other hand always an important part of the industry. As being a net exporter, This report focused on the consumption patterns and driving forces in domestic market. How is the current status of largest application field alkyd resins? What is the tendency in the rapid-growing polyurethane industry? Factors for pentaerythritol price change was also discussed, while the price change will undoubtedly retroacted on sales and export.
Furthermore, CCM put great effort to the forecast of Chinese pentaerythritol industry in next five years and that could be the most valuable guidelines for your investments.

(Note: The following summary is based on the situation in 2008 and maybe different to what it is nowadays. Please be noted.)
In China, the total capacity of pentaerythritol is xxxxt/a in 2008, and the actual output was xxxxt in 2007, increasing by xx% over that of 2006. Some main manufacturers such as Hubei Yihua and Liyang Ruiyang, kept or had plan for expansion. All these facts illustrated that local pentaerythritol industry has completely recovered from the 2005 antidumping affairs and the 2006 environmental concerns. With the growing global business sense, increasing new plants equipped with waste treatment system as well as the international and domestic market being in good status, Chinese pentaerythritol industry is developing soundly and sustainable.
The quality of Chinese penta improved significantly and the product structure adjustment will go further, where middle grade and monopenta dominates and dipenta production increases dramatically. Such a product structure is in better accordance with the market demand and export status.
In 2007, the total import volume of penta was xxxxt and export volume was about xxxxt. The export of penta increased largely with an annual growth rate of xx%, which indicates that China is gradually becoming a net exporter with the improving quality of its penta. Most of the import and export concentrated on monopenta and dipenta, which have already become the focus of international business, thus Chinese manufacturers increased monopenta and dipenta production to meet the market demand.
Based on CCM’s investigation, the continually increasing penta price could be a key issue in next few years, due to the high international oil price and increasing market demand. However, the overtop price will put penta industry, both production and market, under a lot of pressure.
The majority of pentaerythritol in China is consumed to synthesize alkyd resin, but other consumption fields such as polyurethane and rosin resins are also developing fast. In these two fields, pentaerythritol with higher quality is required, which is good news for the local penta industry as the main manufacturers are expanding in high quality penta production.
