Description:
Cyclohexylamine is extremely toxic being taken in by any route, including dermal, ingestion, inhalation, and mucous membranes.
After thirty years’ development, the production of cyclohexylamine now in China becomes mature, including the technology and the industrial chain.
As a downstream product of aniline, its market price is mainly based on aniline’s price. In China, it is mainly used to produce cyclamate and CBS, different from situation abroad. In the previous years, the output and application have been steadily growing in the past years.
Since 2001, the cyclamate business and CBS business turned good, pushing the CHA industry developed faster than before. However, the situation is still serious for cyclohexylamine producers, for the low profit and simple application fields.
As a country whose economy mainly driven by the export business, the production of cyclohexylamine in China was ever closely connected with the world economic depression, or the anti-dumping charges, which are against China’s cyclamate and CBS.
The production of cyclohexylamine will the steadily increase in the next few years, without abrupt increase or decrease. However, the competition of this industry will be also more severe, for its oversupply.

(Note: The following summary is based on the situation in 2007 and maybe different to what it is nowadays. Please be noted.)
- Production of cyclohexylamine in China
XXX active producers are producing CHA in China in 2007, including one starting the production since XXX.
Only XXX of them, XXX have the captive supply of aniline, while the others have to purchase aniline from others. In these XXX CHA producers, XXX producers, namely XXX, also produce CBS, and another XXX CHA producers, namely, XXX, also produce cyclamate.
XXX of all the CHA producers are also producing Di-CHA, besides CHA.
- Import & export of cyclohexylamine
Volume of import & export
Compared to CHA’s output, which is over XXXt/a, China’s export volume has been small in recent years. China’s export volume was only XXX tonnes in 2005 and XXX tonnes in 2006, constituting XXX% of the total output in 2006.
Import volume of China’s CHA decreases year by year, it was XXX tonnes and XXX tonnes in 2005 and 2006 respectively, the import volume in 2006 being XXX tonnes less than that of 2005.
Price of import & export
China’s CHA export price has been stable on the whole, with small fluctuations. The export price is USDXXX/Kg in 2005, USDXXX/Kg in 2006 and USDXXX/Kg from Jan. 2007 to Sep. 2007.The average import price of CHA increases year by year in China. It was USDXXX/Kg in 2005, USDXXX/Kg in 2006, and USDXXX/Kg from Jan.2007 to Sep.2007.
- Consumption of cyclohexylamine
Unlike western countries, more than XXX% CHA in China is consumed by cyclamate and CBS each year. In 2006,XXX% of CHA is consumed in cyclamate and XXX% in CBS. The rest XXX% of CHA is consumed by other products, such as cyclohexylamine carbonate.
The CHA consumed by CBS, which accounted for XXX% of the total CHA’s consumption in 1998, increased to XXX% in China in 2006. On the contrary, the CHA consumed by cyclamate, which accounted for XXX% of the total CHA consumption in 1998, dropped to XXX% in China in 2006. Meanwhile, the total consumption volume of CHA increased from 439 tonnes in 1985 to XXX tonnes in 2006.
- Forecast
The output of CHA, cyclamate and CBS will keep growing in the next five years. However, the number of CBS producers will be much smaller than that now in the next five years. The number of CHA producers will be XXX to XXX in five years. The competition between the CHA producers will be fiercer. In 2001, it is estimated that the output of CHA will reach XXX tonnes.
