Description:

Compared with other types of vitamins, biotin is a small product by volume. The total output of biotin in the world is estimated to be 100 tonnes per year.

As the largest biotin production country, China has accounted for nearly 80.0% of the global biotin supply. Meanwhile, after years of development, China’s biotin production technology in China has been the most advanced in the world.

This report looks into the development history, production, import/export, consumption, technology innovation and the benchmarking of biotin in China. Meanwhile, this report also researches the supply situation and price trend of raw materials involved in biotin production. Based on in-depth investigation, CCM forecasts the production and demand of biotin in China to 2013.

With this report, you can not only find the main players, the raw material supply situation and their price trend, but also the current biotin production technology situation of China’s producers, and their production cost in China,.

Biotin trade and consumption are also covered in this report. In these parts, you can find out the main export destinations of Chinese biotin, and the biotin consumption pattern in China, as well as the main end users.

What’s more, all the four biotin producers in China are profiled with in-depth analysis.

Executive Summary

(Note: The following summary is based on the situation in 2008 and maybe different to what it is nowadays. Please be noted.)

Since XXX Company realized commercial production of biotin in June 2001, China has been the largest production country and main biotin exporter in the world. After years of development, the current production technology of biotin in Chinese producers has been the most advanced in the world.

- Production
As of Sep 2008, there are only xx active manufacturers of biotin in China, with the total capacity of xxxxt/a in 2008, much larger than the xxxxt/a in 2003. With the expanding capacity, China’s output of biotin has been increasing in the period 2003~2007 and the total output has been increasing with CAGR of xx% in the past five years, reaching xxxx tonnes in 2007.

As to the raw materials involved in biotin production, both their supply and price will be stable in the coming years.

- Import & export
China has been an important biotin export country in the world. In 2007, China exported xxxxkg biotin bulk pharmaceutical and xxxxkg feed grade biotin (2%). The main destinations are United States, Germany, Netherlands and India and so on. The export value of biotin to these four destinations accounted for xx% of China’s total biotin export in 2007.
- Forecast
According to CCM’s research, the following are the key drivers for the development of biotin in China:
- The development of feed industry
- The constant demand from the overseas market
- Government support
- New application in healthcare products
- Centralized production and mature technology

Macro factors influencing biotin’s demand and production are considered in this chapter including economic situation. Forecast is made based on these macro factors and other factors. Meanwhile, in making forecast, three scenarios are used. They are low growth, expected growth and high growth Based on the three scenarios mentioned above, CCM makes the forecast on the production and demand of biotin in China to 2013.

- Benchmarking
In China, only chemical synthesis method is adopted to produce biotin, and it includes two chemical synthesis methods. One is inefficient and used by XXX Company; the other one is advanced and used by XXX Company and XXX Company.

All the Chinese manufacturers produce biotin with the raw material beginning from cyclic acid.
