Necessaries for the Import Analysis And/or Export Analysis In the import & export business, every transaction has been recorded by China Customs, in form of shipment record, where every details like name of importer/exporter, quantity, value, date, destination/origin, etc. have been inclosed. The data is categorized by HS code, a kind of classification for different substances. For some large item or the regular item with relative large quantity or or the item with long history of import & export, it has independent HS code. In this case, all the transactions of this item are input under this HS code. While for some small items or the new items, they do not have independent HS codes. All the transactions of these items have to share the same HS code with others. Usually the staffs in the Customs Bureau classify them based on the chemical structure or the function or applications, etc. In this case, one HS code might covers several substances or even tens or hundreds of substances with similar structure or similar function or similar application. There are millions of goods in the import & export business and the majority of substances do not have separate HS codes. This means the names of most substances can not be indicated directly in the shipment record. To verify if there is a definite HS code for a particular product, you can go to the database of Import & Export Statistics which covers most important substances in chemical industry and pharmaceutical industry. However, in most cases, the decision-makers or the strategic drafters are keen in obtaining the shipment records for a particular product that do not have the independent HS code. Sometime such a demand is crucial. It is under this circumstance that have them picked up by scientific method, either for the export data or for the import data, become crucial for these people. While CCM can do this and is expert at it. Further more, it is quite important to understand the following matters from the Customs data:
Obviously there is not indication of these messages in the original shipment record, even if for the product that has separate HS code. Please refer to sample 1, sample 2, sample 3, sample 6, sample 7, sample 8. Nor can be be available from the pickup data (please refer to sample 9, sample 10). Especially, the shipment record is made under names of importer/exporter instead of the manufacturer! From competitiveness point of view, people are more interested in the manufacturers than the exporters/importers. This is essential for the export analysis in particular to the thorough understanding of the market situation in China. A scientific analysis to analyze the shipment record and further map each transaction with each producer or further match specifications and applications to that each transactions has become a dream for many market researchers or decision-makers. But the efficient& effective processing for this purpose is really a headache for them. While CCM can easily make such dream comes true, and provide in-depth investigation. CCM's Procedure for the Import & Export Analysis For both import analysis and export analysis, CCM's first approach to identify the HS code and pick up the concerning data, by using CCM's reliable methodologies. For the product that has definite HS code, this step is ignored. Then CCM further the map and focuses on the analysis from different angles, for export situation and import situation.
At last, CCM add some columns to the original shipment record indicating manufacturer, and/or specification and/or application. For the product without HS code, an addition column is needed to mark the transaction that has been picked up. Please refer to sample 4, sample 5, sample 11, sample 12. CCM' notification
