Description:
Pine resources in China are abundant with over 32.82 million hectares of pine growing areas with a total stock of around 1,500 million cubic meters of live pines. Pine available for tapping accounts for 20% of total growing areas. The major pine growing areas are found all over the country especially in the provinces of Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Hunan and Hubei.
There are 6 kinds of pines for tapping in China, and they are Masson pine, Burma pine, Szemao pine, Latteri pine, Slash pine and Caribbean pine. The output of oleoresin from Masson pine ranked the most in China, accounting for about 90% of the total oleoresin output.
The price of oleoresin is deeply influenced by the season. Generally speaking in April and May when the tapping of oleoresin just starts, the purchasing price of oleoresin is high, and it will decrease and keep stable from June to September. In October the purchasing price will decrease further, and the lowest price will appear in December.
In recent years the output of oleoresin increased rapidly with the average annual growth rate of 8.5% in the past 5 years, and it reached 1,010kts in 2006.
In 2006, the output of gum rosin broke history record, reaching 749,000 tonnes, and increasing by 108,300 tonnes with the annual growth rate of 16.90% compared to that in 2005. What are the reasons for the production increase in 2006?
Gum rosin is mainly consumed in adhesive, paint & coating, batik, rubber, paper, food and ink industry etc. And gum rosin consumption in China has been increasing very rapidly in the past few years with the average annual growth rate of 10.7% in 2002-2006. In 2006, China consumed about 303,052 tonnes of gum rosin, about 40.5% of the total gum rosin output in China. Which industry is the largest consumption field of gum rosin in China before 2005? And which is the largest consumption field of gum rosin in China at present?
Through survey, CCM found 130 active rosin producers with the output of over 1,000 tonnes in 2006. And their total output in 2006 was 717,100 tonnes, accounting for 95.74% of the total rosin output in China.
Besides, CCM provides you an insightful analysis on other following aspects:

In 2006, the output of rosin broke history record, reaching 749,000 tonnes, and increasing by 108,300 tonnes with the annual growth rate of 16.90% compared to that in 2005. There are some reasons for the production increase in 2006.
It is reported that the total number of rosin is 505, thereof, 359 adopt steam method to produce rosin, while 156 adopt indigenous method to produce rosin.
Through survey, CCM found 130 active rosin producers with the output of over 1,000 tonnes in 2006. And their total output in 2006 was 717,100 tonnes, accounting for 95.74% of the total rosin output in China.
- Consumption
Gum rosin is mainly consumed in adhesive, paint & coating, batik, rubber, paper, food and ink industry etc.
Gum rosin consumption in China has been increasing very rapidly in the past few years with the average annual growth rate of 10.7% in 2002-2006. In 2006, China consumed about 303,052 tonnes of gum rosin, about 40.5% of the total gum rosin output in China.
Paper industry was the largest consumption field of gum rosin in China before 2005. Since 2005 the consumption volume of gum rosin in paper industry decreased sharply because it was substituted by litmusless sizing agents, such as AKD, which developed fast and snatched some market shares. At present adhesive industry becomes the largest consumption filed of gum rosin in China.
Since 2004 gum rosin consumption in batik industry decreased sharply because of the high price of gum rosin and other major raw materials. The average profit in this industry was about RMB3-4/m before 2004, but now it is only about RMB0.2/m. Some enterprises reduced the consumption volume of gum rosin through technological innovations, and the dosage of gum rosin in batik reduced from 0.07-0.08t/km to about 0.03-0.04t/km.
Gum rosin consumption in other industries of adhesive, paint & coating, rubber, food and ink have developed fast in the past few years, and the consumption in these industries keep increasing stably.
innovations.
