As the requirements for environmental protection are becoming increasingly stringent, and the structure of pesticide formulations is changing, China’s pesticide surfactant industry has experienced great changes in the past few years.
First of all, the structure of pesticide surfactants in the domestic market has changed greatly in the past few years. The proportion of surfactants for emulsifiable concentrate (EC)in the total by sales volume decreased from about 60% in 2008 to 40% in 2012, while that for water-based formulations increased from about 14% in 2008 to 47% in 2012. At present, there are more than 100 kinds of pesticide surfactantsthat are commonly applied.
The supply situation in the domestic pesticide surfactant market has also changedsignificantly in recent years. On one hand, many traditional large suppliers have been challenged by new competitors. For instance, Nanjing Teva -Chem. Co., Ltd.replaced Gpro Jiangsu Zhongshan Chemical Co., Ltd., becomingthe biggest pesticide surfactant supplier in China, though the latterstill has the largest capacity of pesticide surfactants. On the other hand,foreign suppliers still dominate the marketsof many products, due to their technology advantages. But with the improvement of domestic manufacturers’technology, China-made pesticide surfactants are estimated to gain more and more market shares.
As the pesticide formulation industry keeps changing and developing, the research and development of new products becomes vital. A lot of innovativesurfactants have been developed in recent years. Moreover, someplayers havegradually realized industrialized production of their products.
Focusing on these changes, CCM carried out a comprehensive report.
