Vice Minister Zhang Taolin Attends the 9th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Agriculture

MARA website -- The 9th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Agriculture was held in Bonito, Brazil on September 25-26. Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China  Zhang Taolin headed the Chinese delegation to the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. Attendees held in-depth discussions on the theme of "Promoting Innovation and Actions to Develop New Solutions for Food Production Systems.' They also released the Joint Declaration of the 9th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Agriculture. 

  

Vice Minister Zhang fully recognized the great importance of BRICS agricultural cooperation, briefly introduced China's agricultural and rural development achievements over the past 70 years since the founding of the PRC, and put forward a three-point proposal for deepening BRICS agricultural cooperation: 1) BRICS should persist in innovative development and promote high-quality agricultural growth; 2) BRICS should persist in enhancing connectivity and capitalizing on resources and market advantages; 3) BRICS should uphold international justice and provide solutions for global food and agriculture governance. The BRICS countries are highly complementary in agricultural resources, industrial development and market demand. China is ready to join hands with other BRICS countries to continuously tap the potential for agricultural cooperation and strive to build a brighter future for BRICS agricultural cooperation. 

  

During the trip, the Chinese delegation also visited the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and conducted field studies on the development of ecological agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as the integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries in Bonito.
