Dr. Zhang noted that China and the UK enjoy broad prospects and great potential for cooperation in animal health, and made the following suggestions for further cooperation:

Firstly, sign intergovernmental agreements on animal health and quarantine as soon as possible and promote animal product trade between China and the UK;

Secondly, establish dialogue and direct exchange mechanisms between veterinary services of both sides to facilitate official and personnel exchanges;

Thirdly, promote exchanges and cooperation between veterinary research institutes of the two countries;

Fourthly, strengthen multilateral cooperation.

Mr. Gibbens fully agreed with Dr. Zhang. He reviewed briefly UK's concerns over animal health and said that the UK is willing to enhance cooperation with China in this regard and implement consensus reached between the two sides.
