Vice Minister Qu Dongyu co-chairs 5th Meeting of China-Philippines JCA in Manila

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu co-chaired the Fifth Meeting of China-Philippines Joint Committee on Agriculture (JCA) in Manila on 25 April 2017 in his visit to the Philippines.

 

At the fifth JCA meeting, Vice Minister Qu noted that since the establishment of the JCA mechanism in 2001, the two sides have identified cooperation priorities, carried out joint projects and made concrete achievements. He hoped that the bilateral cooperation could focus on key areas in the new context. China is willing to provide support within its capabilities for further cooperation to benefit the two peoples. China also pledged to provide 100 training opportunities in China for Philippine technical and managerial personnel in the next three years.

 

The two sides agreed to boost cooperation in the China-Philippines Agricultural Technology Center Phase , sericulture, enterprises-universities-institutes integration, post-production and mechanization, agricultural trade and investment, capacity building and rubber research and promotion. The two sides signed the meeting minutes.

 

Prior to the fifth JCA meeting, Vice Minister Qu held talks with Secretary of the Philippine Department of Agriculture Manny Pi?ol. Vice Minister Qu stressed that his visit to the Philippines aims to implement the consensus on agricultural cooperation reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in October 2016, and restart the mechanism of agricultural and fishery cooperation between the two countries. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in capacity building, modern fisheries and agricultural investment under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

 

During his stay in the Philippines, Vice Minister Qu also visited an agricultural product market and a fish port complex in Davao.
