Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen met with Mr. John Scanlon, Secretary-General of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), in Beijing on the morning of 30 March 2017.

 

Mr. Yu reviewed China's efforts and achievements on aquatic wildlife conservation and CITES compliance, and expressed his appreciation to Mr. Scanlon and the CITES Secretariat for their long-term support and assistance to China. He said that the MOA will continue doing a good job on compliance and forge closer ties with the CITES Secretariat and compliance management bodies of China and abroad to improve aquatic wildlife conservation in China. He also hoped the CITES Secretariat could provide China with stronger support and assistance in species identification, non-detriment findings (NDFs) and personnel training.

 

Mr. Scanlon spoke highly of China's work on aquatic wildlife conservation and expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with China to promote the conservation of endangered species of wild fauna and flora.
