Mr. Sun Zhonghua, Chief Agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) of China, led an agricultural delegation to the Republic of the Sudan and attended the Third Conference for Agricultural Investment on 26-28 February 2017.
When addressing the conference, Mr. Sun noted that the MOA highly values agricultural cooperation with Sudan and other Arab states. Recent years have witnessed widening areas of China-Arab agricultural cooperation thanks to the concerted efforts of agricultural ministries of both sides. China and Arab States have established the Agricultural Cooperation Forum and Technology Transfer Center and conducted regular exchanges and interaction. Agricultural ministries of China and Sudan have advanced comprehensive cooperation in agricultural technology exchanges, personnel training as well as trade and investment, becoming a positive role model of China-Arab cooperation.
Mr. Sun suggested that guided by the Belt and Road Initiative, both sides advance China-Arab agricultural cooperation by:
1. Encouraging two-way investment and creating favorable policy environment for businesses and investment.
2. Expanding agricultural trade and conducting cooperation on information sharing, quarantine system improvement and market behavior regulation.
3. Supporting science and technology exchanges and personnel training, thus propping up agricultural development of both sides.
A total of 28 Chinese agricultural enterprises participated in the conference.
Mr. Sun also met with Sudanese Presidential Assistant Dr. Al-Jaz, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Al-Dekhiri, State Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Mr. Yagoub and Minister of Animal Resources, Fisheries and Pastures Prof. Musa, and visited the China-Sudan Agricultural Cooperation Demonstration Center and Agricultural Cooperation Development Park during the stay in Sudan.
