Minister Han Changfu holds talks with German counterpart

Minister Han Changfu held talks with German Minister of Food and Agriculture Christian Schmidt in Berlin on Jan. 21, 2017. The two sides exchanged views on deepening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.  

 

Minister Han Changfu was attending the 9th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) and the G20 Agriculture Ministers' Meetingin Berlin.

 

The two ministers reviewed and spoke highly of the significant role of the Sino-German Agricultural Center in promoting the pragmatic agricultural cooperation between China and Germany. The two sides agreed that the Center has conducteda number of effective activities including policy dialog, research coordination, vocational training, industrial and institutional cooperation, agri-food industrycoordination, demonstrative project coordination and information dissemination,andbuilt up a good platform for the exchanges and cooperation between managerial personnel, agricultural researchers and agri-entrepreneurs of the two sides.

 

Minister Han Changfu proposed that a China-Germany food and nutrition symposium be held in China in the second half of 2017, aiming to explore new cooperation areas,and Minister Schmidt fully agreed with him. 

 

After the meeting, the two ministers signed a joint statement of intent on extending the implementation timeline of the Sino-German Agricultural Center.

 

During his stay in Germany, Minister Han Changfu also visited the International Green Week in Berlin, and held separate talks with Hon. Lawrence MaCaulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, Mr. Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development of European Commission, Hon. Barnaby Joyce, Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, and Mr. Blairo Maggi, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
