Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets US agribusiness leaders

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Ms. Krysta Harden, Vice President of Public Policy and Chief Sustainability Officer of DuPont, Mr. Kevin M. Kolevar, Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy of Dow Chemical Company, and Mr. Todd Hall, Senior Vice President of Cargill Inc, in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 21, 2016, respectively. Vice Minister Qu exchanged views with them on strengthening agricultural exchange and cooperation. 

 

The meetings were held on the sideline of the 27th Session of the China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) and Vice Minister Qu is a member of the Chinese delegation for the Session.  

 

 

Vice Minister Qu noted that the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture applauds and encourages increasing investment from multinational corporations and cooperation with China in agriculture, which promotes business growth of the corporations and agricultural development in China. Vice Minister Qu hoped that US corporations and their Chinese partners step up efforts in cooperation by capital investment, R&D and innovation, personnel training and other means to promote transition in agricultural development and modern agriculture in China and disseminate China's advanced technology and successful practice to other developing countries for food security.

 

At the separate meetings, the leaders of the three multinational corporations all expressed that their corporations highly value market opportunities in China and are willing to leverage respective strengths to achieve mutually-beneficial and win-win cooperation, promoting agricultural development in China and global food security.
