Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in Beijing on Nov. 14, 2016.

 

Vice Minister Qu noted that the Ministry of Agriculture of China highly values the agricultural cooperation with Cambodia and is actively implementing the consensus on agricultural cooperation between Prime Minister Hun Sen and President Xi Jinping reached during his visit to Cambodia in October this year. MOA has established a working group with a work schedule to help Cambodia formulate a sectoral plan on modern agriculture.China has provided the Cambodian side with potato, luffa and pepper varieties adapted to the tropical climate since October, and will continue encouraging and supporting the agricultural research institutions and agribusinesses from China to carry out cooperation with Cambodia in the areas of rice, corn, cassava, natural rubber, livestock and fisheries, among others.

 

Mr. Veng Sakhon said that Prime Minister Hun Sen highly values and supports the bilateral agricultural cooperation. He fully agreed with the suggestions from the Chinese side on agricultural cooperation and looked forward to greater success in this respect.
