Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets representatives of G20 entrepreneurs in agriculture

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with representatives of entrepreneurs attending the First G20 Agricultural Entrepreneurs Forum in Xi'an, Shaanxi on June 2, 2016 and exchanged views with them on international cooperation in agriculture.

 

Vice Minister Qu noted that China adheres to the opening-up policy and welcomes more enterprises to invest and develop business in China. He put forward a three-point proposal to strengthen agricultural cooperation in the following areas:

 

(1) Agricultural investment cooperation. The Ministry of Agriculture of China will release China's vision and action plan for international cooperation in agriculture, hoping to receive positive responses from entrepreneurs. Joint investment in agriculture in G20 will be promoted to facilitate global agricultural development, poverty reduction and eradication of hunger; 

 

(2) Business-business communication. China will encourage Chinese enterprises in agriculture to learn advanced management expertise, operation practices and agri-technologies, and establish joint labs, in order to improve their R&D capacity and business management;

 

(3) New technology demonstration. China will intensify efforts to attract more investment from multinational corporations in the fields of agricultural technology demonstration and public service, in order to further promote China's agricultural and rural development.

 

A total of 17 entrepreneurs attended the meeting, including representatives of DuPont Crop Protection, CJ CheilJedang Corp., BASF SE, Tate & Lyle Group, China Oil & Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO), and China National Agriculture Development Group Co., Ltd..
