China's Dairy Industry D20 Summit was held in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei Province, on Aug. 26, 2016. The Summit called for improving the quality and efficiency, expanding the scale and increasing product standardization and brand-building in the dairy sector.

 

Vice Premier Wang Yang made important instructions, stressing that the invigoration of dairy sector is of great significance for ensuring supply of dairy products and increasing dairy farmers' income and is an important component of supply-side reform in agriculture.

 

Minister of agriculture Han Changfu attended and addressed the Summit. He stressed that invigorating dairy sector is the shared responsibility of everyone in the sector. Minister Han underlined the role of dairy industry in China's social-economic development. He pointed out that the dairy industry should feature green development, market-orientation, quality and safety, while sharpening its competitiveness, and transforming in development modes. Minister Han also emphasized tightened supervision, innovation in technology, policy support and cost reduction to make China's dairy sector stronger.

 

At the Summit, the representatives from top 20 dairy enterprises signed a declaration of dairy sector invigoration in China.

 

The Summit was chaired by Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen and was attended by officials from relevant central authorities and provincial governments, and business leaders from the dairy sector in China.
