Vice Minister Qu Dongyu and Director General Agro Hans Hoogeveen of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands co-chaired the 17th China-Netherlands Agricultural High-level Working Group Meeting in the Hague on March 29, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening pragmatic cooperation in agriculture.

Qu pointed out that, in recent years, under the guidance of the China-Netherlands Agricultural High-Level Working Group Meeting, the two sides have conducted fruitful cooperation in the fields of animal production, veterinary service, new variety protection, seed production, crop production, and agricultural S&T, among others. He noted that China and the Netherlands each have their own advantages in agriculture. Based on the principle of mutual benefits for win-win outcomes, China is ready to strengthen agricultural strategic dialogue and technical cooperation with the Netherlands, combining advanced technology of the Netherlands with the market demand and agricultural production condition of China, and jointly upgrade the overall bilateral cooperation.

Hans Hoogeveen noted that the Netherlands will actively promote the mutually beneficial cooperation in line with the cooperation priorities identified by both sides and join hands with China to improve the bilateral cooperation.

After the meeting the two sides signed the meeting minutes. During his stay in the Netherlands, Vice Minister Qu also visited Wageningen University and Research Center and took a field trip to study the agricultural and rural development of the Netherlands.
