Indonesia's first corn import in a decade will be made in January this year, said Wahyu, director of Bulog, the country's food procurement agency.

The shipment will amount to 100,000 tonnes. Deliveries in February and March are also expected, with 200,000 tonnes and 300,000 tonnes, respectively.

According to Bulog, 600,000 tonnes of cornwould be imported in the first quarter of 2016. It will spend about US$130 million on bringing in corn which will then sold to local feed mills at a price set by the government.

Indonesiatemporarily stopped issuing corn import permits to feed mills last year as the government strived for self-sufficiency in food supplies and channeled imports through Bulog this year, Reuters reported.
