Bumper wheat output expected in Bangladesh's Naogaon district
Bangladesh's Naogaon district is expected to see a bumper wheat output in all eleven of its upazilas this season, The Financial Express reported.
The development is attributed to the healthy progress of plants due to favourable weather conditions. A lengthy winter, coupled with adequate irrigation, ensured that wheat plants in the area are able to grow fast, sources at the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.
About 26,335 hectares of land was acquired for wheat planting this season, with a potential output of 63,433 tonnes in Naogaon.
However, the production target was 50,000 tonnes from 20,761 hectares of land, a goal likely to be outperformed, according to The Financial Times.
