Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets Swedish Minister for Rural Affairs

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met Swedish Minister for Rural Affairs Sven-Erik Bucht in Beijing on Nov. 25, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Both sides spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation in agricultural S&T, dairy products processing, capacity building and personnel exchanges between China and Sweden in recent years. To further practical cooperation, Vice Minister Qu put forward the following suggestions: (1) support practical cooperation in agricultural eco-environment protection, leveraging the platform of the China-Sweden Joint Laboratory for Agricultural and Environmental Technology to increase research capacity of both countries; (2) establish reliable communication mechanisms, conduct training and exchange activities, and further improve the quality and safety of agricultural products to facilitate agricultural trade; and (3) deepen dairy cooperation, conducting joint research on key technologies including dairy farming, breeding and machinery, and organizing training projects for dairy technology exchanges.
Minister Sven-Erik Bucht fully agreed with Vice Minister Qu on his suggestions. After the meeting, Vice Minister Qu and Swedish Minister Bucht witnessed the signing of the agreement on training of senior management and technical personnel for modern dairy farming.
