The implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative has achieved initial results. CCM thinks that it will bring important opportunities to the phosphorus chemical industry, help to promote technology and production upgrading of related products and expand the export market for phosphoric products by taking advantage of the Silk Road.

On 18 Nov., 2015, the Ministry of Land and Resources of the People's Republic of China said on its official website that the 6th China (Xinjiang) International Mining & Equipment Expo (The 6th CIME Expo) would be held in Xinjiang international exhibition center of Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) on 22 July, 2016. At the same time, the 6th China-Eurasia Summit Forum of the International Mining Industry is also going to be held, on which a series of promotion events will be jointly held by mineral resource management departments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other countries to promote the cooperation of mining prospecting and exploitation between China and countries in Central Asia further.

The 6th CIME Expo is the biggest mining exhibition in western China and it is very important to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. Besides, it also plays an important role in boosting international cooperation, mining prospecting and exploitation in western China and Central Asia in the future ten years.

Xinjiang, as an important transfer station of the ancient Silk Road, adjacent to central Asia, serves as a main carrier of industry cooperation between China and Central Asia. Since the 1990s, there are more and more economic collaborations between Xinjiang and Central Asia. So, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China put forward that Xinjiang should be built into a core region of the Silk Road Economic Belt by relying on its geographical and resource advantages.

On 18 Nov., 2015, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping attended the APEC summit and delivered a keynote speech in Manila, the Philippines. He said that for the past two years, over 60 countries and organizations participated in the Belt and Road Initiative actively and the Belt and Road Initiative had already achieved its initial results.

The Belt and Road Initiative has achieved its initial results in China. CCM thinks that it will bring important opportunities to the phosphorus chemical industry and help to promote technology, production upgrading of related products and expand the export market for phosphoric products by taking advantage of the Silk Road.

To promote technology and production upgrading of phosphorus chemical products

At present, Chinese phosphorus chemical industry is facing problems such as excess capacity and saturated market demand. China restricts the export of scarce phosphorus ore resources; the price of low value-added products is below the international level and manufacturers make little profits. In order to realize product upgrading and improve competitiveness, enterprises develop high value-added and well-performed products through technological innovation.

The implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative promotes the cooperation and development between China and Europe, Asia as well as Africa. For example, Yunnan Yuntianhua Co., Ltd. (Yunnan Yuntianhua) has cooperated with Israel Chemicals Limited (ICL) to set a joint venture. Yunnan Yuntianhua provides cheap raw materials with high quality to ICL so as to improve ICL's competitive power in Chinese and Asian markets. And Yunnan Yuntianhua to introduce innovative technologies and advanced management techniques from ICL in order to develop high value-added products and promote transformation and upgrading. Yunnan Province, located in the geographical center of Asia and possessing abundant phosphorus ore resources, northward connects the Silk Road Economic Belt and southward connects the maritime Silk Road.

To expand export market for phosphoric products

With the rapid development of phosphorous fertilizer industry, China has been gradually transformed into a net exporter from an importer of phosphate fertilizers. So, it's necessary for China to expand its export market.

The Belt and Road can connect the provinces in western China with the markets in Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia and even Europe. Central Asia, with traditional agriculture as its leading industry, Southeast Asia which has prosperous phosphate fertilizer market and South Asia, especially India, that demanding for a large number of imports of diammonium phosphate, all covered by the Belt and Road Initiative. This provides favorable conditions for China to expand the foreign phosphate fertilizer market.
