Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP)'s “Development of marine bio-pesticide and plant growth regulator”, passed the acceptance check of Ministry of Science and Technology recently, meaning a technology breakthrough in bio-pesticide for DICP.

The research started in 2007, when the development of oligosaccharins was supported by “The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (Program Number: 2007AA091601)”. The research was led by DICP.

After three years' research, DICP has made tremendous progress in the production technology of bio-pesticide and developed 11 kinds of oligosaccharins, four of which can be used as bio-pesticides and plant growth regulators. DICP uses marine polysaccharides as raw matetail to produce oligosaccharins. It has achieved the advanced technology of separation and purification, making it realize the scale production of the product. The project got 7 state invention patents and 1 international patent

In 2009, DICP cooperated with Hainan Zhengye Zhongnong High Technology Co., Ltd. (Hainan Zhengye) to promote the oligosaccharins. Hainan Zhengye registered the 6% oligosaccharins AS in 2009 and built a 6% oligosaccharins AS prodcution line with the capacity of 4,000t/a. It starts to promote the product in 2010. The product sells well in South China such as Guangdong and Hainan. Besides, the company will promote the product in other regions in the future.

As a pesticide, oligosaccharins has many advantages.

It is estimated that oligosaccharins will have bright prospect in the control of virus diseases, especially on cash crops such as vegetables, fruit trees, tobacco, etc. However, they have to work hard to promote the product.

DICP was founded in March, 1949. It is a multidisciplinary institute engaged in both fundamental and applied researches of chemistry and chemical engineering, especially with strong abilities for technological development.
