Participants who wish to qualify for a scholarship through Nuffic must already register before 20 October 2015.Plant Variety Protection CourseThe foundation for successful global expansion and export in the field of agriculture and horticulture is the protection of your plant varieties. Plant Breeders’ Rights are an important tool for food security and genetic variation because a strong Plant Variety System can ensure and improve food security in any country. To underline the importance of Plant Breeders’ Rights, Naktuinbouw has developed the Plant Variety Protection Course.The Plant Variety Protection Course, held from 15 June till 26 June 2015, was once again a huge success this year. The 21 participants from 17 different countries returned home with plenty of new insights and knowledge.UPOV principlesThis course, which is given in English, is based on the UPOV principles. It focuses on the implementation of plant variety protection in countries where legislation is being developed, has recently been adopted, or in countries that are considering developing a system. For more information about this course can be found in the brochure.ScholarshipsA limited number of scholarships are available from Nuffic, the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education. For residents of certain countries, Nuffic can offer NFP scholarships via the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) for the PVP course. Nuffic also offers a StuNed scholarship especially for residents of Indonesia or a MENA scholarship for residents of Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Syria and Tunisia.If you want to apply for a scholarship you must meet a number of criteria. Early application is recommended as some procedures to finalise subscription (f.e. funding, visa) can take some time.After that, applications for a scholarship must be submitted by registering in Atlas, the application system of Nuffic. Om het belang van kwekersrecht te onderstrepen, heeft Naktuinbouw de Plant Variety Protection Course ontwikkeld in nauwe samenwerking met Centre for Development Innovation, Wageningen UR.Dit jaar werd de PVP Course van 15 - 26 juni gehouden en het was wederom een groot succes. De 21 deelnemers uit 17 verschillende landen gingen met veel nieuwe inzichten en kennis terug naar huis.Nuffic-beurzenNuffic, de Nederlandse organisatie voor internationale samenwerking in het hoger onderwijs, biedt een aantal beurzen voor de PVP Course. Voor inwoners van bepaalde landen bieden zij beurzen via het Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP). Nuffic biedt ook een StuNed-beurs speciaal voor inwoners van Indonesië of een MENA-beurs voor inwoners van Algerije, Egypte, Irak, Jordanië, Libanon, Libië, Marokko, Oman, Syrië en Tunesië.De aanvragers moeten voldoen aan bepaalde criteria om in aanmerking te komen voor deze studiebeurzen.
