US wheat output to increase 6% this year: USDA

This year's wheat production in the US may achieve a 6% growth over 2014, the USDA's July 10 Crop Production report stated. 2015 is expected to yield forth 2,148 million bushels as compared to 2,026 million bushels seen last year.

The forecast also trailed closely the average trade expectation of 2,149 million bushels.

For spring wheat, output will be up 4% to 617 million bushels in 2015, compared to 595 million bushels in 2014.

Production for hard red spring wheat will rise 3% from 2014's record, to 573 million bushels this year.

Durum will achieve a 42% jump over 2014's volume of 53 million bushels; therefore, this year will see a bigger yield of 75.5 million bushels.

Winter wheat is expected to increase 6% in output for 2015, to a volume of 1,455.5 million bushels.

For US wheat carryover on June 1, 2016, the volume is expected to reach 842 million bushels, compared to a lower 753 million bushels of the same period this year, according to the USDA's July 10 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report.

The agency also projected the global wheat output for 2015-16 to reach 721.96 million tonnes, an increase of 410,000 tonnes from 721.55 million tonnes projected in June. The volume is, however, lower than the record 725.92 million tonnes seen in 2014-15.
