BEIJING—ICAMA and the Plant Protection and Quarantine Station (PPQS) of Miyun County of Beijing jointly held a rap session on the Field Trial Approach of Natural Enemies as Bio-Pesticides on June 13th, 2012. The purpose of the Session is to optimize the field trial and evaluation approaches for registration of natural enemies and to further strengthen the management over bio-pesticides.
Liu Jiemin, Deputy Director-General of ICAMA attended and addressed the Session. He pointed out that bio-pesticide is an effective tool to control
pest, minimize pesticide residue and resolve
food security. The bright future of bio-pesticides is foreseeable given the increasingly higher living standard and awareness of
environmental protection. ICAMA advocates the use of bio-pesticides.
The Session discussed the "Indoor Farming of
Oophagous Trichogrammae' as the Part I of Guidelines for Indoor Farming of Natural Enemies, and the "Use of
Oophagous Trichogrammae in
Corn Borer Control' as the Part I of
Guidelines for Field Trial of Natural Enemies to Target Organisms. Participants shared their views on the control agents, the acreage of trial zones, etc, and also visited a large-scale multiplication base of
Oophagous Trichogrammae.
25 participants attended the Session, representing ICAMA, Beijing ICA, Miyun PPQS, and Beijing Yihuan Natural Enemy Agricultural Technology Service Company.
