Researchers do experiments in the new agricultural technology research center.

A research center for agricultural technology and chemical fertilizer was recently set up in Jiading district.
Shanghai Wintong Chemicals Co, which specializes in agrochemicals, invested about 20 million yuan ($3.2 million) to build the research center, claims to be the most advanced in east China. So far, the research center has 11 products with national patents.
Shi Chenghua, president of the company, said the quality of chemical fertilizer influenced the yield and taste of agricultural products. Chemical fertilizers with high purity and well-distributed nutrients can help produce healthy and robust crops, while low-quality chemical fertilizers may lead to environment pollution or low yield.
Two new labs, one focusing on agriculture ecology and the other on agricultural microbiology, will be added to the research center, which is expected to solve many agricultural problems for farmers.
