Wuxi in Jiangsu province opened a smart agricultural garden, featuring the latest technologies of the Internet of Things (IOT), in the Hongshan Eco-Agriculture Base on April 23.

The garden is a cooperative project between Omron Corp, a well-known Japanese sensor maker, and Wuxi Yafu Agricultural Science and Technology Co. As the first of its kind in the city, the garden will use robots for the pollination, harvesting and packaging in three years, according to the Wuxi Daily.

The greenhouses in the garden are equipped with various sensors, through which the farmers can monitor the soil temperature and humidity. Thanks to these high-tech sensors buried in the soil, farmers are able to spend less time for planting and get better results.

According to Liu Xinjie, general manager of the agricultural company, the smart management has helped to improve work efficiency, with the crop output three to five times that of the traditional model. He also believed the smart management during the entire process of cultivation from seeding to harvest will soon be realized in the garden.
