Fonterra hires Australian veterinarian to care for 100,000 dairy cattle in China

   
   
   

New Zealand dairy giant, Fonterra is building another large-scale dairy hub in China which will herd 20,000 dairy cows. Though Fonterra currently has two dairy hubs operating in China, ithas plans to build another three more within three years.

   

   

Meanwhile, veterinarian Robert Bonanno from Victoria, Australia, has taken upa position in China with Fonterra. During his tenurefor the next three years, DrBonannowill be responsible for the health of 100,000 dairy cows across Fonterra's five dairy hubs in China.

   

   

He said, "My goal is to provide China with the world's best milk production methods. It is not just about production as we also need to consider the welfare of human beings, such as environmental protection.It will be amazing if this goal can be achieved."

   

Fonterra International does not process the milk produced by its dairy hubs, instead it is supplied to Fonterra's Chinese partners for processing as they seek to build trust with skeptical Chinese consumers who are concerned with the quality and safety of locally produced milk.
