Minister Han Changfu made a study tour in Hebei Province from April 8th to 9th, 2015. He emphasized that agricultural authorities of all levels should focus on field management and spring farming preparations to secure a bumper summer harvest; accelerate the transformation of agricultural pattern; and improve and adjust the farming structure to coordinate the production of grain, cash crops and forage crops.
Minister Han pointed out that agricultural authorities should intensify their guidance to farmers, enhance spring field management, strengthen regulation of agricultural inputs, improve the utilization of fertilizers, land, pesticides and water, and increase farmer's income from grain growing, in order to secure a good harvest of grain and oil-bearing crops this summer.
Minister Han paid a visit to the Shijiazhuang Junlebao Dairy Co., Ltd and studied the developments of dairy industry and product quality and safety. He noted that currently it is an important task for agricultural sector to transform its development pattern and adjust the structure. We should support major grain producing regions to develop animal production and grain processing. In appropriate regions we may carry out pilot projects of "grain to forage' and "combined operation of grain growing and animal farming', to maintain the balance between agricultural development, resources and the environment.
Zeng Yichun, Member of CPC Leading Group of MOA, and Bi Meijia, MOA Chief Economist also participated in the study tour.
