EU performs Brazil's poultry meat hygiene audit
In order to ensure poultry meat meets EU requirements for import, EU officials are visiting Brazilian meat health facilities and slaughterhouses to audit standards.
The laboratory for microbiological analysis in Rio Grande do Sul and the headquarters of the Department of Livestock Inspection of Animal Products in Goias are scheduled for rigorous inspections.
Rodrigo Figueiredo, Foreign Secretary for Agriculture underlined the importance of the visit for Brazilian agribusiness: "It is an opportunity for Brazil to continue trade relations with the EU and open up more visits for more establishments, showing our new skills."
The team will stay until September 20 and will also visit Parana and Santa Catarina.
