Philippine government opens rebidding for hybrid corn

The Philippine Department of Agriculture has opened the rebidding for supply and delivery of hybrid yellow corn seeds worth PHP3 million (US$69,436.44) for this crop year.

A package of 18 kg per sack of hybrid yellow corn seeds good for one hectare shall be produced and shipped in San Fernando City, La Union, according to a bid invitation dated June 16, 2013.

Other specifications for the hybrid crop include an 85% germination test, examined within three months prior to the delivery; a 100% purity result; and that the variety should be approved by the National Seed Industry Council office responsible for the approval and registration of crop varieties.

The hybrid yellow corn seeds must also possess agronomic characteristics such as a potential yield of 7.84 tonnes per hectare; a maturity date of 103-107 days; and adaptability to planting in Luzon during wet and dry seasons.

Interested bidders must meet the preceding specifications along with other requirements indicated in the complete set of bidding documents. These may be purchased upon payment of a non-refundable PHP3,000 (US$69.44) fee at the Regional Field Unit 1 office of the DA in San Fernando.

A pre-bid conference on June 18 at the same DA office will be open to all parties who purchased the bidding documents.

Bids in line with the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Government Procurement Reform Act (RA 9184) must be sent on or before July 2, which is also the date of the bid opening.

Bids in excess of the approved budget contract will be immediately disqualified.
