NGFA urges for a third-party certification on US feed products
The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) urged the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on June 3, 2008 to consider a third-party certificationto ensure safety of US food and feed products.
The NGFA's statement came after the FDA expressed plans for a third party certification on food and feeds.
For the US feed industry, NGFA suggested to wait until the FDA implements new process-control regulations that would encompass feed ingredient manufacturers, non-medicated feed manufacturers and transporters.
Furthermore, the association recommends that the third parties should be independent and free of conflicts of interest.
