Crop and animal nutrition giant YaraInternational will renew its search for a new CEO after Svein Richard Brandtzægtoday notified the company''s board of directors that he is turning down the offer to lead the company.
   


"The board regrets Brandtzæg''s decision, but must accept the situation," says Leif Teksum, chairman of the Yaraboard of directors.

   


On July 21, the board namedBrandtzæg as the company''s new president and chief executive officer effective February next year at the retirement of the current CEO Jørgen Ole Haslestad.

   


The board said Haslestad, who turns 65 next year, will continue as CEO "until further notice," adding that iw will now re-start the process of identifying Haslestad''ssuccessor.

   


Mr.Brandtzæg currently serves as president and CEO of Norsk Hydro ASA, a position he has held since 2009. Prior to this, he has held a number of management positions in Norsk Hydro. Born in Norway in 1957, Brandtzæg graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

   


He holds an economics degree from the Norwegian School of Management and a PhD from NTNU.
