Guangzhou China Jan. 25, 2011– Ministry of Agriculture holds a symposium on 19 January 2011. Some exports believe the drought hasn't caused great effect on the wheat production yet, while others believe it still need attaching great importance to the conditions of drought, and they suggests that the relevant departments should organize experienced staff to work in drought regions promptly and pay close attention to the conditions of drought.

Since October 2010, there is little rain in northern wheat regions, as it has no effective rainfall in northern China and the drought will continue until next spring. Experts from Ministry of Agriculture have done analysis on the conditions of drought. Although the status of young plants is good for wheat seed growth, the conditions of drought is still a problem. Winter wheat production is facing severe challenges, while the task of spring drought management is still tough.

Experts has pointed out that there are still many favorable conditions and positive factors despite the sustained drought conditions causing extremely large difficulty for winter wheat. First, the growth of young wheatseed is fairly good, and it doesn't have a wide range of withered and yellow leaves like the phenomenon in 2008. Second, the market price is higher.Farmers with expected increasing income will help them to increase production and strengthen field management. Third, winter wheat has a long period of self-regulation ability, and it is good for field management.

Experts have also pointed out that for the current drought in the winter wheat region, we should make the technical line and take promote response measures to strengthen guidance. All the measures are to prevent pests and diseases from spread with the rising temperature.

In addition, Ministry of Agriculture will send 20 working groups to the main producing areas to carry out "a hundred rural households survey " activities and investigations on the growth of young wheat seed, soil moisture, the conditions of pest and disease, a guide to the spring field management and do everything possible to promote the stable development of grain.
