US iron ore output falls by 9.7% m-o-m in January

According to data released by the US Geological Survey (USGS), the US produced around 4.2 million tons of iron ore in January, falling by 9.7% from a month ago but up by 0.7% year on year.

Meanwhile, the US iron ore shipments totaled 3.1 million tons in January, decreasing by 43.3% month on month and declining by 19% year on year.

In January, the country's iron ore exports were at 1 million tons, increasing by 34.6% month on month, including 832,000 tons to Canada and 121,000 tons to Mexico.
