According to statistics,
Malaysia
's scrap imports totaled 153,000 tons in February, soaring by 49.7% year on year and rising by 23.4% from a month ago.
Among them, 91,000 tons were from the US, jumping by 452.5%; 34,000 tons were from South Africa, surging by 278.2% and 16,000 tons were from Singapore, falling by 50.8%, all compared to those in the same period of a year ago.
In the first two months of this year, Malaysia imported 278,000 tons of scraps, up by 0.8% year on year.
In the given period of time, the US was the largest scrap exporter to Malaysia with 157,000 tons, increasing by 72.8%; Singapore was the second largest one with 46,000 tons, decreasing by 34.1%; South Africa was the third largest one with 34,000 tons, rising by 13.1%, all compared to the figures in the same period of the previous year.
